One of the most abundant dye stuff materials available to us can be gleaned from orchards and landscape maintenance! Our dye journey will begin with a plant walk to identify and gather choice species for the dye vat. Trees and shrubs are rich in tannins, flavonoids and anthocyanin all with a unique color signature.

We will cover fiber preparation and use of mordants to obtain multiple hues and shades from a single extraction. Time permitting we hope to cover and process a dozen or more dye baths. Materials and sample books provided.
